Deposits such as carbonate, sulfate, and iron deposits reduce the performance of RO membrane filters, leading to reduced production, increased raw water consumption, increased energy costs, and interruptions in the production process, ultimately leading to premature replacement of the membrane filter. For this reason, antiscalants are used to prevent sedimentation on membranes. This substance slows down the settling process of water-soluble salts. In fact, these substances are absorbed on the formed salt crystals to prevent the adsorption of supersaturated salts on the crystal surface. Therefore, the crystals never grow and remain suspended.
PC-191 Antiscalant is a highly concentrated organophosphonate-based scale inhibitor and is suitable for use in saltwater, seawater, process wastewater, and wastewater treatment systems.
This antiscalant is more effective and stable than sodium hexametaphosphate and, like many polymers, does not precipitate in the presence of cationic polyelectrolytes or multivalent cations (such as iron and aluminum). PC-191 antiscalant is highly effective against calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, silica and iron deposits
Antiscalant must be continuously injected into the RO device to minimize scaling. The amount of injection depends on the feed water analysis, membrane type and device operating parameters (such as efficiency, temperature and pressure), these parameters determine the potential for scaling that causes membrane clogging.
PC-191 antiscalant is a product of NALCO and is one of the most important antiscalants with more than 30 years of experience in the water treatment industry.
PC-191 antiscalant is compatible with all polyamide-based membranes and, if used according to the instructions, stainless steel 304, polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC
PC-191 antiscalant is incompatible with polyurethane, carbon steel and aluminum.
