The FilmTec 4-inch seawater reverse osmosis membrane, model SW30-4021, is designed for desalination of seawater as well as saline surface and groundwater sources. The primary distinction between seawater RO membranes and other industrial membrane elements lies in the required operating pressure for the reverse osmosis process. In seawater desalination systems, the high-pressure pump must typically supply pressures exceeding 40 bar to effectively produce permeate that is free from dissolved salts and contaminants.
