Antiscalants:

The water entering water purification systems contains various dissolved minerals, such as magnesium and calcium salts. As these dissolved salts pass through the membranes of the system, they tend to deposit on the membrane surfaces.

These deposits, formed on the membrane surface, reduce the efficiency of the membranes. Therefore, the use of anti-scaling agents to prevent the formation of such deposits is essential. If these anti-scaling substances are not used, the membranes could sustain significant damage.
